Who we are and what we are working for
We are a coalition of individuals and organisations who recognise that protest is a core democratic tool for defending and securing justice and liberation, particularly for Māori, workers, feminists, takatāpui, rainbow and trans people, and environmental and peace activists. Our work is rooted within our rich histories of activism in Aotearoa New Zealand, our support for the Bill of Rights, and a recognition that protest is one way to build a society underpinned by Tiriti justice.
We aim to enhance human rights protections for protest and work as allies with those communities most impacted by attempts to limit rights.
Organisational members include:
- Amnesty International Aotearoa New Zealand
- New Zealand Council for Civil Liberties
- Peace Action Wellington
